Same-Sex Marriage Legalized in California
SLDN applauds the men and women whose hard work has made same-sex marriage in California a reality. However, lesbian, gay and bisexual service members should clearly understand that marrying someone of the same sex in California or Massachusetts means risking their military careers. Unfortunately, the federal "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" law states that members of the armed forces will be discharged if they marry, or attempt to marry, someone of the same sex.

Raising the Barr
Former Congressman Bob Barr yesterday announced he will seek the Libertarian party's nomination for president in 2008. Last year in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Barr called for the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." Click here to read the article in full and to learn more about Barr's announcement.

This Mothers Day
Click here to read what Nancy Manzella, mother of Army Sergeant Darren Manzella, has to say about watching her gay son serve in the shadow of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." And join her in urging Congress to lift the ban on openly gay service in the armed forces.
